National Bullying Prevention Week 2025
SuperHIRO Wednesday is part of National Bullying Prevention Week (Monday 11 – Sunday 17 August 2025).
This year, the message is clear: If we want to put an end bullying, we must ACT ON IT.
Join us in building a world where everyone feels safe, respected and empowered to be themselves.
LEARN MOREWho is the HIRO in SuperHIRO Wednesday?
Meet HIRO – formerly known as Harry – a 16-year-old who spends his days educating the community and protecting others from those who try to bring them down.Â
At Bully Zero, we think of the four letters in HIRO’s name as a reminder of the values that drive real heroes: Honesty, Integrity, Respect and Optimism.
This year, we’re giving HIRO a new mission – and a new meaning:Â
Hear, Interrupt, Remove, Open Up = HIRO.
Let’s break it down:
Hear it – Listen for bullying behaviour: words or actions that hurt, exclude or intimidate.
Interrupt it – If it’s safe to do so, step in. Break the moment by calmly stating that it’s not okay.
Remove – Gently guide the person (and yourself) away from the situation and the bully.
Open up – Talk to the person to check that they're okay. Talk to a trusted friend or adult.
Because being a HIRO isn’t about having superpowers – it’s about taking action.
